3 laakh ka Nariman Point !!

Hello Readers,

As the name & the pics suggests, I’m writing about my most favorite place on the earth. The place which I believe is mine :P The iconic beauty of Mumbai – The Nariman Point. =) =) The place which symbolizes peace and love. Nariman Point showcases the beauty of the nature with the sea face, the sunrise and the setting sun. Located on the shores of Arabian Sea, Nariman Point has been an important and one of the most amazing tourist spot of Mumbai.

Nariman Point is situated in South of Mumbai. It is one of the significant business centres of Mumbai which hosts the HQ of some premier business establishments like Central Bank, The Trident, Air India, National Aviation Company, Bank of India and many more.

Lets go through some of the facts and figures related to Nariman Point.
Nariman Point was a part of Arabian Sea till 1940. During that time, a Parsi congress leader named Khursheed Framji Nariman / Veer Nariman, who was then the corporator of Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) proposed to develop a business district by claiming the land from the sea.

Built in the late 1940s, the entire cost of the process of claiming the land from the sea was just Rs.300,000/- =)  Again, further reclaiming of land was done in 1970s and this time the prices of the land spurted. The rents & rates began to scale new highs every day then. In 1995, the commercial rental space hit the world record $175 per square foot. Again, a new world record was set when a house at Marine drive (part of Nariman Point) was sold for a whopping $8.62 million on 26th November, 2007 approximately at $2450 per square foot. (Rs.98000 per sq ft)

Many of my friends are employed in the offices located at Nariman Point =) Nariman Point hosts many domestic and international financial services companies like stock brokers, banks, NBFCs. Vidhan Bhavan – the political headquarters of Maharastra is also located here. :-)

The best time to visit this place is all round the year =) but Nariman Point is a Heaven on Earth in the monsoons. So June-July-August is the best time to be here. Walking on the shores, in the rain, listening to some music with an earphone plugged into your ears is what you will never like to miss. :) right ? =) =) Some of my pics when I was there during the last monsoons =)

If you love cars and if you are crazy about the brands like Chevrolets, Ferraris, Bentleys and Aston Martins, then be here at evening 5:00. Sit near Air India building and watch these branded cars racing like mad machines =) You can also spot a few Vintage cars too. Nariman Point looks amazing in twilight hours. The lamps, street lights, The lights of Wankhade Stadium :P ;-) and all the other stuff makes NP an amazing place to be at.

I mean to say that you can spend whole of your day at Nariman Point. :P The best way to get there is of course by The Mumbai Local !!! If you are on Central Line, get down at Dadar, divert to the western railway platform and board a train towards Churchgate. Get down at Churchgate, come out of the station from the left side exit door and from there its just a 5 mins walk towards the sea face =) The other way of CR commuters is.. get down at VT / CST & hire a cab. It takes about 15 mins to reach NP from VT station. The cab will cost you about 30-40 bucks.

Kuch khaneka rahega toh ShivSagar Restaurant janeka..=)) aur kuch nahi  khane rahega toh seedha vapas ghar janeka :P :P For more information about Nariman Point, you can mail me anytime, anyday at bijoy.momaya@gmail.com

So common Mumbaikars… get out of your houses and reach this place this weekend. Wishing you all the most amazing and awesome monsoon at Nariman Point. =)
